I am getting ready for a two day virtual goal achievement retreat with friends and family, and one of my assignments was to write what I want to accomplish as if it has already happened. This is fun, creative and expansive. Visualizing what you want to happen is a powerful way to help your unconscious and subconscious get in alignment with your conscious mind. In addition, if you have surrendered your whole life to Jesus or a higher power–Creator can help you in ways that you can not even imagine. As the song in the movie South Pacific says, “if you don’t have a dream…how you gonna make a dream come true!”
I hope you will write your future story. Here is mine, after I prayed for guidance:
I am so happy and even thrilled! I feel so grateful to all my partners who helped support me in achieving these goals during the two day goal achievement retreat. It is now only one month later, and I am on my way to making enough money to live on just through publishing my book, DOWNSIZE FAST. This income is helping me to focus on my other goals such as starting an intentional community in Fayetteville which will expand into community on our land at Living Springs.
Here is what happened:
I did all the things that I needed to do to get ready for the retreat. My room was marvelously set up into a beautiful setting where Mahriyanna joined me. We had music playing which helped us focus, and took regular breaks in order to keep our energy level high. We gave and received emails to our fellow participants which created a beautiful, prayerful synergy that gave us inspiration above and beyond what we could have ever had if we were by ourselves.
I got so inspired editing DOWNSIZE FAST that the whole process was completely joyful and effortless. The job that I started almost three years ago needed spiritual help! I felt God’s presence so strongly during the two days.
I loved the fact that those of us in Wellspring Community who participated, plus other dear friends, really bonded. This has been a dream of mind—that the amazingly beautiful energy of Wellspring Community could expand to include others. I am so happy about this. Now we are creating a virtual community that is very supportive.
One of the things that came out of the retreat was not only a completely finished book that I can only call divinely inspired—but I also created a virtual two day downsizing retreat that was similar to our goal achievement retreat. So not only did the goal achievement retreat empower me, but it gave me confidence that the same thing could be applied to a downsizing retreat.
I am looking forward to creating the DOWNSIZE FAST challenge where thousands of people all over the world commit to getting rid of at least 50 percent of their possessions and move significantly towards simpler lives so that they can achieve their life-giving goals.
Of course, after the Downsize Fast challenge, people will want to participate in ACHIEVE YOUR GOALS FAST challenge! I will be working on that book soon.
I am feeling so fulfilled after completing this book. Now I can help people—not just one on one—but millions of people. And I absolutely love the idea of hosting these weekends. I don’t have to be in everyone’s home, but I will choose one family to help—maybe even as a volunteer—so that I can be working alongside all the thousands of people who are also working.
Can you imagine the excitement—the buzz? I know it won’t be long before Oprah Winfrey, Joel Olsteen, Rick Warren, Deepak Choprah and scores of celebrities will decide to downsize their mansions and give their money to help completely eliminate poverty in the entire world. I also am looking forward to enlisting the help of the growing number of minimalists who are doing amazing things with their work.
You know, I never thought that my organizing talents could help make such a profound difference. But now I see that God gave me this ability to help with the core problem of people having too much stuff that both weighs them down physically, spiritually, and emotionally—and which could be used to help others who don’t even have enough food in their bellies.
Well—who would ever have guessed this handful of folks who invited on this journey would be the ones who I can give credit to for this amazing success? Margaret Mead said, “Never underestimate the power of a small group of people to change the world. In fact, it is the only way it ever has.”
Which relates to the scripture, “Where two or more are gathered in my name, there am I also.” and “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me”
I will conclude by a quote by Goethe that has inspired me for about 30 years ever since I first heard it:
Thanks everyone for your help. I love you! And I can’t wait to hear your future dreams!
